T-Level Launch: round-up

A Night of Innovation and Inspiration

Liverpool Life Sciences UTC and The Studio recently hosted an event to celebrate the launch of its new T-Level qualifications in Digital Production, Design and Development and Engineering. Industry professionals were invited to the Grade II listed Contemporary Urban Centre for an evening of insightful presentations, interactive workshops, and networking opportunities.

The event began with a delicious taster menu, providing a perfect opportunity for guests to network with fellow professionals, educators, and students. Keynote speeches by Dan Howard and Enda Carey, Employer Partnership Leads, highlighted the importance of T-Levels in bridging the gap between education and industry.

Industry professionals from Digital, Tech, Creative and Engineering sectors joined us including PlayStation, Sony, Mando, Beverston, Liverpool City Council, Entropix, Liverpool John Moores University, Surface Transforms, and more.

The evening’s highlight was the inspiring presentations by former students…

Hannah Drummond, now an Apprentice Site Civil Engineer, shared her experiences of how the school’s learning model and industry placements prepared her for a successful career.

Caleb Hampton, who now works at Beverston Engineering in Aerospace and quality assurance, emphasised the importance of practical experience and the belief that “the best form of engineering is done through trial and error, learn and go again.” He also highlighted the role of 3D mapping software and Autodesk in developing his skills and making him more employable.

Jack, an Air Traffic Engineering Apprentice, also spoke about his experience at the UTC, highlighting the role of the extended project qualification in aviation and exposure to technical drawings in BS8888 in helping him secure his current position.

Following the presentations, attendees had the opportunity to participate in interactive workshops. In the Engineering workshop, current T-Level students demonstrated the use of Fusion 360, a powerful 3D modelling software. The Digital Production workshop offered a fascinating session on programming drones, showcasing the practical applications of digital skills.

T-Levels, the newest addition to the schools curriculum, are a new type of technical qualification designed to equip students with the skills and knowledge they need to succeed in today’s competitive job market. They offer a practical and industry-focused approach to learning, combining classroom-based theory with hands-on work placements.

Liverpool Life Sciences UTC and the Studio School are committed to providing high-quality education and training that meets the needs of industry. By offering T-Level qualifications, the UTC is empowering the next generation of engineers and digital professionals.

We’d like to thank everyone who attended. If you’re interested in learning more about T-Levels or exploring potential partnerships with the UTC, please contact our T-Level Coordinator, Dan Howard: [email protected]
