Make CIC finds its forever home
Social business – and our former Baltic Triangle neighbour – Make CIC has found its forever home. Having now bought the former Riverside Housing HQ on Argyle Street, Birkenhead, its aim is to create a permanent home for the region’s creative community.
Helping people “turn their passions into prosperity” by providing studio space for those who might otherwise be working from home, alongside hosting a programme of workshops, exhibitions, and support services, Make moves in this summer and we can’t wait to visit.
Made by Make creates Eurovision key
If you take a lunchtime stroll around the Baltic, you’re sure to spot the work of local artist Neil Keating, whose most recent design has been used to create a very special piece indeed, the Eurovision Key.
Taking the shape of an anchor, the symbol of Liverpool’s twin city Odesa, Ukraine, it also features iconic Liverpool symbols. Working in partnership with a host of creatives from Made by Make, the final 3D printed piece was ceremonially handed over to this year’s host Sweden, before Eurovision arrives in Malmo this May.
Games Demo Day to take place in April
Barclays is once again partnering with not-for-profit organisation UKIE to give UK game developers, whatever their age and experience, the opportunity to showcase their unsigned games to potential audiences and investors at a Demo Day this April.
With a mission to make the UK the best place to produce, sell, and play games, 6-8 successful developers will demonstrate their unsigned and innovative games on a virtual platform
Liverpool Film Office announces new film and TV training initiative
Named ‘Action!’ and made possible through £2.3m of BFI National Lottery funding, this new film and TV training initiative is for all those aged 18 and over, living in the Liverpool City Region with the right to work in the UK (and cannot be in further or higher education).
Aiming to support around 1,000 people into the industry over the next three years, the programme will include career surgeries, training, workshops, industry bootcamps, access to additional employability assets, masterclasses with established crew and opportunities for paid placements on set.
