That’s why we’re thrilled to be at the heart of a new partnership with Ford Philanthropy – a £1 million investment into the Liverpool City Region, designed to accelerate innovation, opportunity, and impact for young people and communities.

This partnership is about more than financial investment – it’s about shared purpose. At our schools, students aren’t just preparing for exams; they’re preparing to tackle the challenges of the real world. With Ford’s support, we’re expanding project-based learning experiences in crucial growth areas like lean manufacturing, sustainable transport, and data science.

As featured in the official Ford Fund announcement, this programme is designed not just to support academic growth, but to develop the next generation of changemakers and innovators.

Community-Driven, Region-Focused

This initiative goes hand in hand with Ford Philanthropy’s wider commitment to the Halewood community – including the renovation of the New Hutte Neighbourhood Centre, which offers food provision, youth services, and community support. At Life Sciences UTC and The Studio, we understand the value of community – and we’re proud to play a role in supporting Liverpool’s future.

Our Employer Partnership Lead, Dan Howard, summed it up by saying:

“What we are going to be doing is starting to develop educational programmes to help support three main areas of focus – the world of manufacturing, the development of applied data science in Year 12 used in advanced manufacturing, and giving our students the opportunity to complete an EPQ around solutions that support accessibility and sustainability across the Liverpool City Region. We are going to share them across the Northern Schools Trust and the wider school community. Pretty exciting times – and we want to thank the Ford Philanthropy for making this possible.”

Whether students are modelling smart transport systems or using data to design cleaner, more efficient manufacturing processes, they’ll be tackling the kinds of problems industry leaders are solving right now. These extended projects help develop creativity, collaboration, and critical thinking – while giving our students the experience and confidence to stand out in a competitive world.
