Build my future / careers

Build My Future is our innovative approach to careers support. The annual festival, which takes place in the Baltic Triangle, builds on the real-world experience we provide for our students, and links you with inspiring speakers, business leaders and career opportunities.

Over 300 sixth form pupils from across Northern Schools Trust come together for a two-day event, which features over 60 businesses. Alongside career inspiration from industry experts, the event focuses on how to prepare for working life – whether in the form of university, apprenticeships or employment.

Talks from the city’s business leaders are geared towards building resilience, including celebrating failure in order to succeed, social entrepreneurship, asking for help, using mistakes as a tool to progress, the need for men to champion women and taking opportunities.

Visits to partners including UCLAN, LIPA, Liverpool University, Shop Direct, the Museum of Science and Industry and Jaguar Land Rover have taken place in previous years, alongside expert sessions from industry leaders, working lunches and creative workshops.

Set to return for 2019, Build My Future is truly in line with the vision of Northern Schools Trust: transforming opportunities and changing the lives of young people through education.
