Destinations

Here at The Studio we prepare young people for success in the digital world, whether this is full-time employment, entrepreneurship, a new business venture or further study, we strive to ensure all our students are equipped with the skills needed to succeed in the creative and digital sector.

Every year, students from The Studio move on to some pretty amazing destinations, both locally and nationally. We’ve decided to speak to some of our previous students about their A level results, how they found life at The Studio and what they’re up to now. Check out their profiles below:

Jack - Games Development student at Liverpool John Moores University

Jack is one of our most successful students, not only did he win the BAFTA Young Game Developer prize after beating thousands of other hopefuls, but he also smashed his A levels after achieving Double-Distinction* in Creative Media, Distinction* in Enterprise & Entrepreneurship and an A in Computing, securing his place at Liverpool John Moores University to study Games Development.

“These are all subjects I’m interested in. Studying them helped me to develop skills I will need in my desired career in games development.”

When asked if this is something he’s always wanted to do, Jack replied:

“Definitely. I have always had an interest in a career involving computers, joining The Studio helped me narrow that down to games development in particular.”

He also went on to reflect about his time spent at The Studio:

“It has been very unique, it’s not like any other school. I definitely wouldn’t have gained the experience I have anywhere else but The Studio. Winning the BAFTA Young Game Developer Prize award for games development helped me find the right University course for me and provided me with many more opportunities to send me down that path.”

Jun - Maths student at University of Manchester

After choosing to follow our Coding pathway, Jun excelled with his A level results, picking up an A* in Maths, an A in Further Maths and a B in Computing.

He has moved on to study Maths at University of Manchester.

When asked about his time at The Studio, Jun responded:

“I have loved being part of The Studio. I gained better grades than I ever would have imagined and now going on to study Maths, which is something I have always wanted to do.”

Johnathon Price - working full-time as a Designer/Animator at We Are Nova

Being situated in the heart of the Baltic Triangle, the fast-growing creative and digital sector within Liverpool, allows us to work closely with some of the most innovative digital studios in the UK.

It also means we can supply these organisations with creative and hungry Studio graduates. That was the case with Johnathon Price, who secured a full-time Designer/Animator role at We Are Nova, after achieving Distinction*’s across the board on results day.

“I have loved my time at The Studio, it was well worth it! I definitely wouldn’t have got where I am today without the experience The Studio offered. They helped me develop my skills in the industry which has helped me gain new job.”
